Sigtuna Municipality is selling land to Kilenkrysset for SEK 250 million.
This is the largest land sale in the municipality's history.
The sale concerns a large area of raw land located directly west of the existing logistics area in Rosersberg. Under the deal, Kilenkrysset also takes on all future infrastructure measures in the area. The acquisition enables Kilenkrysset to continue developing the expanding logistics sector and to create new jobs in Sigtuna Municipality. For the municipality, it means important revenue that makes possible the necessary expansion of schools, preschools, care homes for the elderly and other core municipal services, without having to borrow all the money for the investments. The deal is a large and important piece of the puzzle in the municipal leadership's work to stabilise the municipality's finances.
On 18 December 2019, the Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board, Olov Holst (M), and Jan Persson (CEO and Chairman of the Board) met for the historic handshake. The deal must be approved at the Municipal Council meeting in February before it becomes legally binding.
– We have a long and good relationship with Kilenkrysset, and I am very pleased that we can now build on it by completing the largest land deal in the municipality's history, says Olov Holst, Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board (M).
– A quarter of a billion kronor is a great deal of money, and the deal is a real win-win situation. Kilenkrysset is given the opportunity to develop its business further and create new jobs for the region, while we receive very important revenue to cope with the necessary investments that will be required in the future, Olov Holst continues.
– This acquisition gives Kilenkrysset the opportunity to continue developing one of Sweden's most strategic and important logistics areas. The expansion of Rosersberg is central from both a regional and a national perspective. We have always had good cooperation with Sigtuna Municipality, and even though we are now taking on a large responsibility for the development of the infrastructure, we feel privileged to have the municipality's continued trust to further develop Rosersberg, which is our largest development initiative ever. Sigtuna Municipality confirms its position as holder of the highest grade in our internal municipal ranking.
