Last week the first sod was turned for KICKS' new, highly automated omnichannel warehouse in Rosersberg, outside Stockholm. KICKS was there together with its partners Bockasjö and Kilenkrysset, among others. The 29,000 sq m facility will handle both the supply of goods to stores and customer orders for the company's fast-growing e-commerce business. The new warehouse, together with the already launched solution for picking e-commerce orders in store, will enable short and fast lead times in all three of KICKS' markets: Sweden, Norway and Finland.
Earlier this year it was confirmed that KICKS is making the largest investment in the company's history to future-proof its warehouse and logistics solution. The total investment in the new omnichannel warehouse is expected to exceed 200 million, and the warehouse is expected to enter service in early 2024. The background to the decision to invest in a new warehouse is that KICKS wants to secure an efficient, scalable and sustainable logistics solution in all of the company's markets, while creating the conditions for continued profitable growth as it scales up further.
“Our new warehouse will future-proof KICKS' business, and it is gratifying that the implementation is proceeding according to plan, with close and good cooperation with Bockasjö and Kilenkrysset, among others. The next important milestone is when we start installing the automation inside the warehouse in November. The automation solution, which is based on the latest technology, will give us greatly improved productivity and scalability to support continued profitable growth for many years to come,” says David Heeroma, COO of KICKS.
To establish the property for the new omnichannel warehouse, KICKS has chosen Bockasjö and Kilenkrysset as partners. Both companies have long experience of creating modern, efficient and environmentally friendly logistics buildings.
“We are pleased to be part of KICKS' success story and the partnership this project involves. The omnichannel warehouse will be built with high sustainability ambitions and rated under the BREEAM-SE Excellent environmental certification. Among other things, it will be powered by electricity from solar panels and offer electric vehicle charging,” says Joakim Hedin, CEO of Bockasjö.
“We are pleased to be involved in this positive and significant further establishment of KICKS, one of the largest players in the Swedish market. The building provides every opportunity for growth in both the national and the international market,” says Jan Persson, CEO of Kilenkrysset.
KICKS' partner for the automation solution is KNAPP, one of the global market leaders in delivering smooth and efficient warehouse flows.
