In April 2021 Kilenkrysset AB signed a new lease agreement with Uponor AB for the distribution centre in Hacksta, Västerås. The lease agreement concerns the property Eneberga 1, with a floor area of 7,151 sq m, which is currently Uponor’s Nordic distribution centre.
As Uponor wants to bring all its Swedish operations under one roof during 2022, including all its prefabrication, Kilenkrysset has made a further land acquisition from the City of Västerås and extended the existing land area by
10,000 sq m, which will be used for outdoor storage.
An extension of 4,788 sq m, divided into 3,586 sq m of warehouse and 1,202 sq m of offices, will be built and is expected to be ready for occupancy in mid-2022.
“This is a large, strategic investment that we are making within Uponor as a whole, and I think it shows the path Uponor has wanted to take for the past two years: that we are the global company, with the strength that brings in innovation and long-term thinking, but with strong local roots close to the market,” says Robert Molund, CEO of Uponor AB.
With this, the property will no longer be a pure distribution centre but will function as the customer’s “Nordic hub”, with distribution, prefabrication and pre-insulated pipe cutting. The extension also includes modern office space for, among others, the Swedish sales and marketing organisation.
