In November 2021 the first sod was turned for the coming development at Mörby 5, Nykvarn Municipality. The area is part of the municipality's future development area, which is expected over the long term to generate both a significant number of jobs and a positive effect on the municipality's future development. The ambition is to attract knowledge-intensive companies within the same spectrum, such as vehicle development, transport, logistics and technology companies, as well as education and research centres, to establish themselves in the area.
– Demand for land in the area is high, which shows the enormous potential the area has. We hope to attract knowledge-intensive companies to establish themselves here and to create cooperation between business and research to promote growth and innovation, says David Schubert, Head of Business Development in Nykvarn Municipality.
The Mörby 5 land area consists of approx. 70 hectares of zoned land for business purposes and is part of the Stockholm Syd Mörby area. The whole Stockholm Syd Mörby project will be one of the largest projects in the history of Nykvarn Municipality. Kilenkrysset compares the project with one of its already established logistics areas, Stockholm Nord, Rosersberg, Sigtuna Municipality.

The Stockholm Syd Mörby area has a strategic location close to roads, ports and airports, together with a good labour supply in the densely populated Stockholm and Mälardalen region. The contractor procured for the infrastructure at Mörby 5 is Skanska.
– With the new business area, we are increasing the municipality's competitiveness and attractiveness over the long term and creating many new jobs. This contributes to sustainable development in Nykvarn, but also in the region as a whole, says the Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board, Gunilla Lindstedt (NP).
The Stockholm Syd Mörby area will be developed in several stages. Several parallel planning processes are under way so that the area can be developed. The area covers four different detailed development plans: Mörby 5, Mörby 6, Ånsta and Mörby 7. The new area is expected to be fully complete around 2025.
